By Christian Vits, June 11 (Bloomberg) -- Bundesbank board member Thilo Sarrazin said immigrants from Turkey, the Middle East and Africa are making Germany "dumber," Deutsche Presse-Agentur reported.

Thilo Sarrazin: "We are getting dumber through immigrants"

Immigrants from those countries are less educated than other people and have more children, Sarrazin said at an event yesterday, according to the newswire. Through such immigrants, Germany is getting "dumber on average," dpa quoted Sarrazin as saying. He also said "there’s a difference in the reproduction of population groups with varying intelligence," according to the report.
Susanne Kreutzer, a spokeswoman for the Frankfurt-based Bundesbank, said the comments are "the personal views of Mr. Sarrazin" and declined to comment further.
Sarrazin, who joined the Bundesbank in May 2009 after seven years as Berlin’s finance minister, came under pressure to resign in October after he described Muslim children as "underclass" citizens.

“I don’t have to accept someone who lives off a state they reject, doesn’t properly take care of the education of his children and keeps producing more little girls in headscarves,” Sarrazin told the journal Lettre International in an interview. "That goes for 70 percent of the Turkish and 90 percent of the Arabic population of Berlin."

He later apologized for the comments, which Bundesbank President Axel Weber said had damaged the central bank’s reputation.

"We must realize that our party's most powerful weapon is racial tension. By propounding into the consciousness of the dark races that for centuries they have been oppressed by the whites, we can mould them to the program of the Communist Party. In America we will aim for subtle victory. While inflaming the Negro minority against the whites, we will endeavor to install in the whites a guilt complex for their exploitation of the Negroes. We will aid the Negroes to rise in prominence in every walk of life, in the professions and in the world of sports and entertainment. With this prestige, the Negro will be able to intermarry with the whites and begin a process which will deliver America to our cause."
